BAM Strategy
What is BAM?
BAM is using Barbarians, Archers, and Minions. In a lot of ways, it’s very similar to Barch. It’s actually a faster army build than Barch is. The addition of the Minions makes actually makes this the fastest army that you can train in Clash of Clans. The downside of using BAM is, you have to use dark elixir. To some, DE used is DE wasted…meaning it takes that much more elixir to save. BAM can allow you to attack in 8-10 minutes…depending upon how many of each unit you wish to use.
When to use BAM?
BAM is used primarily as a farming army. It’s quick build time allows for consistent, consecutive stints of raiding in a relatively quick time. Can be used at TH7 and above against any other TH level.
What is the goal of BAM?
As mentioned before, BAM is used as a farming army. However, due to the fact that you use DE to make minions, it is not recommended to use BAM when farming for DE. BAM differs from Barch in that it will allow you to get to storage collector bases, provided you are able to take out wizard towers, and air defenses with barbarians and archers. BAM has the tendency to net profits higher than when using Barch based off the simple fact that getting to collectors is easier. A good BAM raid would be anything that would net you a profit of at least 325k in gold and elixir, and coming close to at least breaking even on what you spent for minions on the raid or better.
Army Composition
90 Archers
70 Barbs
20 Minions
These numbers are not set in stone. You can tinker with these to best suit how you like to attack. I would advise not to go below 60 archers though, and I wouldn’t exceed more than 35 minions. Don’t focus so much on the number of troops that you’re making though. That takes away from the use of this army. Try setting up 2 barracks to make Archers, 1 barracks to make 10 archers and then the rest barbarians, 1 barracks to make just barbarians, and then split the number of minions in half and disperse those into your dark barracks.
Clan Castle
I would advise requesting for archers and/or minions. It isn’t a necessity, but it’s a good thing to have. Most of the time, you are not going to need to use your clan castle. Having those specific troops in there will help you when you need that extra boost to get rid of an air defense, or you need a few more minions to reach a storage.
Spells
For spells, I would only recommend making rage, and lightning. Rage you’ll want to use to help your minions get to storages if/when you need that extra boost. Lightning you can also use to take out a wizard tower or air defense. *Note: Using spells cuts into your profit when using BAM. Keep that in consideration when you use spells while using BAM. Only use Lightning or Rage if you really need to get to some really good loot.
How to Attack
BAM allows you to attack anyone. If you can lure the Queen and King without too much hassle, then do so. It will make dealing with the rest of the base easier. However, if they are both hard to lure, concentrate on luring the Queen. She’s the one that can wreck the most havoc on the minions. Minions can take out the King without him dealing any damage to your minions. Then, deploy troops in a similar fashion as you would Barch, surrounding the base with barbarians, and then archers. Then, deploy minions in a semi circle style motion around the storage area you’re trying to get to. *Note: Depending on the loot available in the storages and how close the storages are, it might be beneficial for you to use a rage spell once you drop the minions. Try dropping the spell just in front of the minions, so that you maximize the effect of it. One other note: when attacking someone with X-bows, be mindful of the direction the X-bow is pointed. If the X-bow happens to be pointed up, take into consideration the range of that X-bow in reference to the storages before you go attacking that base.
*Note: It’s only a must that you take out the King and Queen if you are wanting to achieve 50% and get the 1 star. You can usually spread your troops around the base without the King and Queen wreaking too much havoc on your attack.
*Note: SAVE MINIONS FOR LAST, AND ONLY USE THEM IF YOU HAVE TO. If you have 50% or more of the base destroyed and/or have collected all the loot you need without having to deploy minions, save them for the next battle.
Dealing with Clan Castle
What’s inside the clan castle really doesn’t matter with this attack strategy. There’s no real need to lure clan castle troops. You can sweep the base before the clan castle troops have a chance to destroy your army.
Final Thoughts
BAM is used to farm with, so winning isn’t necessarily your goal. Obtaining loot quickly is. However, you can trophy hunt with BAM. The key here is to get 50% which you usually can do on most bases by attacking the outside buildings (builders huts, barracks, army camp, gold mine, elixir pump, DE drill, spell factory, and the lab).
